Before requesting anything further, allow me to thank you for this magnificent software tool. I despaired because FeedGator was allowed to die, and it is such a blessing to have this component being actively developed! So thank you, thank you thank you over and over again.
One feature we had always hoped FeedGator would someday include was the ability to strip out or filter certain HTML elements. For instance, in some "Education Weekly" feeds, they include "digg this" and other images that we simply would prefer not to see.
Additionally, Google news puts its content inside of tables for some reason. In some J!1.5 templates that are XHTML valid, this breaks the layout. Stripping the table tags is the only solution. Unfortunately this causes us to take that step of opening the content, viewing html code and removing all < table >< tbody > < tr > < td > and their closing tags, and substitute them with divs.
Is it possible to code a search and replace? Is php versatile enough to recognize "table width = 400 " and change that to "div style = width:400px ;"? Can you tell php to parse and strip out all img calls?
That would be a dream come true if you could. Right now, this tool saves me a fair bit of time. If these elements could be detected and corrected, this component would save me hours of work. And that would be extremely marvelous.
Thanks for reading my suggestions!
Schelly
